Modern choice of disinfectant

The main task when choosing an antiseptic for disinfection is to select the most suitable product depending on the specific application in each case. Disinfectants must serve the primary goal — to create effective and reliable protection against infections.

The main groups of objects requiring disinfection include instruments and equipment, surfaces of rooms and items, skin and hands of personnel and patients. Today, thousands of chemical substances are known to have biocidal activity, but only hundreds are practically used. Modern disinfectants are produced using chemical substances with a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity.

The introduction of new modified components into disinfectant formulations ensures the destruction of viral and bacterial pathogens, improves washing properties and odors, and at the same time does not cause damage to the structural materials of the treated objects. Antiseptics for hand skin surfaces also contain substances that protect the skin.

To ensure infection safety for staff, patients, and clients, a comprehensive set of sanitary and hygienic measures must be implemented. These include skillful selection and use of disinfectants, antiseptics, and chemical sterilants.

It is important to consider the sanitary conditions under which personnel provide services and perform procedures. Simply washing and cleaning a room is generally insufficient to prevent infectious diseases. Therefore, all surfaces, furniture, and equipment must be disinfected.

For surface disinfection, products such as "Zhavilaar Effect" and "Zhavilaar Plus" (chlorine-containing tablets and granules) are used for disinfecting and washing room surfaces and equipment (including sanitary equipment), cleaning tools, dishes, linen, etc.

Human skin is inhabited by a large number of microorganisms. Up to 90% of nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infections worldwide have been spread via hands. Therefore, one of the most important preventive measures to interrupt the chain of infection transmission is hand hygiene of the personnel.

If skin antisepsis is not performed or performed inadequately, even sterile instruments can infect the patient.
